Implementation of the Agreement on Movement and Access

(31 October – 13 November 2007)

The United Nations¹ is submitting the 51^st bi-weekly report on the implementation of the 15 November 2005 Agreement on Movement and Access (AMA), covering the period 31 October-13 November 2007.

Overall Progress:

There were no major changes since the previous reporting period. The Rafah, Karni and Sufa crossings remained closed for the movement of goods and people to and from the Gaza Strip. Erez crossing remained closed for all Palestinians except for those with special coordination arrangements with the Israeli District Civil Liaison. Kerem Shalom remained the only crossing point open for the import of commercial and humanitarian supplies.

A single-lane conveyor belt/chute at Karni continued to function on an average of two days per week for the import of wheat grain and animal feed into Gaza. A total of 3,043 calves were allowed into Gaza via Sufa during this reporting period. A total of 752 truckloads, including 117 from humanitarian agencies, were allowed into Gaza between 31 October and 13 November, compared to 739 truckloads in the previous reporting period. An average of 14 traders per day crossed through Erez into Israel during this reporting period.

¹ The Office of the Quartet’s Special Envoy closed on 28 April. Since then, the United Nations, through the OCHA oPt office, has assumed reporting responsibilities on the implementation of the AMA.
