UAE Red Crescent Society Donates USD 250,000 for Food Aid to Refugees during Ramadan
The Red Crescent Society of the United Arab Emirates will help UNRWA distribute food parcels to Palestine refugees during the holy month of Ramadan. The UAE Red Crescent Society is donating USD 250,000 to ensure that refugees in camps, villages and towns throughout the West Bank will enjoy their Ramadan breakfasts.
The donation has been made possible through the generous act of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahian, the President of the United Arab Emirates. The UAE Red Crescent Seasonal Ramadan Programme will enable UNRWA to distribute basic food commodities to fasting refugee families.
UNRWA Commissioner General Karen Abu Zayd said last week that the refugees are the poorest and most vulnerable of the Palestinians. She told the Council of Ministers of the League of Arab States that refugees in the West Bank, deprived of access to their lands and livelihoods, find it impossible to sustain themselves and their families.
