OIC condemns approval to build 1500 new settlement units
Date: 06/06/2014
The Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Iyad Ameen Madani, strongly deplored Israel’s decision approving the building of 1500 new settlement units in the West Bank, including the occupied Jerusalem. He stated that the continued policy of building and expansion of Israeli settlements was a flagrant violation of international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.
The Secretary General also condemned the desecration of the sacred Al -Aqsa Mosque and Al-Quds by extremist settlers. He warned against the repercussions of the Israeli settlement and racial policies on the security of the entire region. At the same time, he called on the international community to assume its responsibility and take a firm stand to stop Israel’s, the occupying power, infringements and continued hostility against the Palestinian people, their land and holy places.
