Statement by the United Nations Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process,
Mr. James W. Rawley, on the recent security-related incidents in the West Bank

The Deputy Special Coordinator is concerned by the security-related incidents which have taken place in recent days in the West Bank and the tensions that these have generated. He wishes to express sympathy for the victims, their families and friends.
As always, the United Nations urges that thorough investigations be conducted into these cases and that accountability be ensured.
Particularly during this season of solemn religious festivities, the United Nations calls for calm and urges all parties to exercise the utmost restraint to de-escalate tensions.
