Corinne Momal-Vanian, Director of the United Nations Information Service in Geneva, chaired the briefing, which was attended by the Spokespersons for the World Health Organization, the United Nations Children’s Fund, the United Nations Refugee Agency, the International Organization for Migration, the World Food Programme, and the International Labour Organization.

Asked about the situation in Jerusalem and clashes over the Al Aqsa Mosque, Ms. Momal-Vanian said that it was indeed a situation of great concern to the Secretary-General, who had spoken about it on several occasions in the past few days. He had asked that all provocative acts be avoided that could lead to more violence and had called on all sides to de-escalate the situation.
