Israel/ Palestinian Territories – Death of Ziad Abu Ein

(December 10, 2014)

France condemns the violence that led to the death of Ziad Abu Ein, a Palestinian official and former Deputy Minister for Prisoner Affairs, during a peaceful demonstration on the outskirts of the Palestinian village of Turmus Aya.

We extend our condolences to Ziad Abu Ein’s family and share the grief of the Palestinian people.

We call on the Israeli authorities to shed full light on the circumstances behind this tragedy.

In the current context of heightened tensions in the West Bank and in Jerusalem, France calls on all parties to take measures to ease tensions and to demonstrate a sense of responsibility.
