Statement by the Minister for Foreign Affairs on the announcement
of the Abduction and Murder of a Palestinian boy in East Jerusalem

1. The Government of Japan expresses its condolences for the bereaved family of the Palestinian boy who was abducted and found dead in East Jerusalem, and strongly condemns the abduction and murder. Japan demands that the perpetrators be brought to justice as soon as possible.

2. Japan expresses its regret for a series of incidents such as the recent abduction and murder of three Israeli students, the following violent actions in the West Bank in which Palestinians were killed and this incident, and is concerned about the growing tension of the situation.

3. Japan urges all parties concerned to exercise maximum restraint in order not to further deteriorate the situation.
