TIPH distributes food on Eid al-Adha – TIPH press release/Non-UN document

TIPH distributes food on Eid al-Adha

Fourteen TIPH observers participated in distributing food to Palestinian families in celebration of the Eid al-Adha feast in Hebron. The observers concentrated their efforts in the Tareq Ibn Ziyad area and close to the Kiryat Arba settlement. Many people came to greet the TIPH members underway, even though the area was under curfew.

The Tareq Ibn Ziyad and surrounding area were chosen by the TIPH since they have faced the greatest impact of the current operation of the Israeli Defense Forces and have had problems with frequent curfews, school closures and house searches.

Eight sheep were bought by the TIPH and slaughtered by butchery Aref Zahdeh and made into two kilo packages. These were then distributed to 200 families.

TIPH was also active during the later days of the Eid. In addition to normal patrolling, the TIPH arranged children festivals at two schools. Games and activity books were given, and the children were engaged by singing, drawing and playing.

These events come in stark contrast to the general situation in Hebron. 17 new observers have recently arrived in Hebron, and TIPH community relations work show how small initiatives can brighten up otherwise dark days. Not only for some families and children in Hebron, but also for the TIPH observers.
