The 2nd Conference for Confidence-building between the Israelis and the Palestinians

Concluding Statement by the Parties

At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, trilateral Palestinian, Israeli, Japanese meeting was held at Hakone on 12 -14 July 2004.

The participants discussed a wide range of issues relating to the revival of the peace process, mutual cessation of violence and security related Issues, Gaza disengagement as part of the implementation of the Roadmap, including the resumption of negotiations, confidence building measures, Palestinian national and local elections, economic recovery, third party role, and Palestinian reform among other issues.

Many ideas were exchanged and the parties concluded that a peace agreement based on the two-state solution as provided for in the Roadmap is doable and called upon international community to pro-actively assist in this endeavor.
