CERF allocates $1 million for logistics support for the delivery of humanitarian assistance
5 February 2009: Continued conflict is resulting in a serious humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. The situation is adding an additional logistics challenge for the humanitarian community to deliver humanitarian assistance into the Gaza strip.
To meet needs, CERF is providing $1 million to the World Food Programme (WFP) to facilitate the consolidation, prioritization and dispatch of humanitarian relief items into Gaza by setting up staging areas in Israel, the West Bank and Egypt. The operation will facilitate the uninterrupted supply of life saving relief items to the most affected populations in Gaza.
