Letter dated 16 May 2001 from the Permanent Observer of Palestine
to the United Nations addressed to the President of the Security Council
In my capacity as President of the Group of Arab States for the month of May 2001, I have the honour to convey to you the official request of the members of the Group for an immediate meeting of the Security Council to discuss the situation in the occupied Palestinian territory, including Jerusalem, concerning the continuous escalation of repressive practices against the Palestinian population by Israel, the occupying Power, in addition to its policy of premeditated assassinations.
