Request for Human Rights Council special session on Gaza – Letter from Egypt, Pakistan and Cuba on behalf of Arab Group, African Group, OIC and NAM

Letter dated 6 January 2009 from the Permanent Representative of Egypt to the United Nations Office at Geneva, as President of the Arab Group and Coordinator of the African Group, the Permanent Representative of Pakistan to UNOG, as Coordinator of the Organization of the Islamic Conference and the Permanent Representative of Cuba to UNOG, as President of the Non-Aligned Movement, addressed to the President of the Human Rights Council

  

  

We are writing to you, on behalf of the Arab Group, the African Group, the OIC Group and the Non-Aligned Movement, in order to kindly request the holding of a Special Session of the Council on 9 January 2009 to address “The Grave Violations of Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory including the recent aggression of the occupied Gaza Strip”.

The members of those groups that are currently members of the HRC are the following: Egypt, Cuba, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan, Djibouti, Angola, Burkina Faso, Cameroun, Gabon, Ghana, Madagascar, Mauritius, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Zambia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bolivia, Chile, India, Nicaragua and Philippines.
