AFFECTING THE HUMAN RIGHTS OF THE POPULATION
OF THE OCCUPIED TERRITORIES
Report of the Special Political Committee

I. INTRODUCTION
1. The item entitled "Report of the Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices Affecting the Human Rights of the Palestinian People and Other Arabs of the Occupied Territories: reports of the Secretary-General" was included in the provisional agenda of the forty-second session of the General Assembly in accordance with Assembly resolution 41/63 D of 3 December 1986.
2. At its 3rd plenary meeting, on 18 September 1987, the General Assembly, on the recommendation of the General Committee, decided to include the item in its agenda and to allocate it to the Special Political Committee.
3. The Special Political Committee considered the item at its 29th to 34th meetings, from 18 to 20 and 23 to 25 November 1987 (see A/SPC/42/SR.29-34).
4. The Committee had before it the following reports:

6. At the 19th meeting, on 18 November, the representative of Sri Lanka, Chairman of the Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices Affecting the Human Right. of the Palestinian People and Other Arabs of the Occupied Territories, introduced the Committee's report (A/42/650).
II. CONSIDERATION OF PROPOSALS
7. In the course of its deliberations, the Special Political Committee considered seven draft resolutions, as set forth below.
