Addendum
1. At its 9th meeting, on 30 March 1976, the Committee requested its Chairman to address a letter to the Executive Secretary of the Organization of African Unity, recalling the letter of the Secretary-General dated 4 March 1976 inviting that organization to participate in the work of the Committee as an observer and informing it that the Committee was ready to receive any suggestions and proposals which the organization may wish to make, orally or in writing.
2. In accordance with this request, on 31 March 1976 the Chairman addressed a letter to the Executive Secretary of the Organization of African Unity.
3 The substantive portion of the reply received from the Executive Secretary of the Organization of African Unity is reproduced below.
ORGANIZATION OF AFRICAN UNITY
I have the honour to refer to your letter dated 31 March 1976 and to inform you with regret, that the Organization of African Unity, in the absence of a Council of Ministers deliberation on the matter, cannot immediately make suggestions and proposals regarding the work of your Committee.
However, the OAU will support proposals made by the League of Arab States and the Palestine Liberation Organization in keeping with its policy of co-operation with the two organizations and in conformity with various resolutions adopted by the OAU Assembly of Heads of State and Government and also by its Council of Ministers.
