The Secretary-General met today with H.E. King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. He commended His Majesty King Abdullah II for his leadership on several issues of close concern to the United Nations and welcomed the conduct of elections in Jordan today.
They discussed the situation in the region and the Middle East Peace Process, stressing the importance of negotiations for a two-State solution. The Secretary-General highlighted Jordan’s role as custodian of the Jerusalem holy sites.
The Secretary-General thanked Jordan for serving as an important advocate and consensus-builder on refugee and migrant issues. They discussed the situation in the berm and the Secretary-General reiterated his deep appreciation for Jordan's hosting of so many refugees.
