Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Christian Kern, Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria and H.E. Mr. Sebastian Kurz, Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Austria

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Christian Kern, Federal Chancellor of Austria, and H.E. Mr. Sebastian Kurz, Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of Austria. 

The Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for Austria’s strong support for the United Nations. 

The Secretary-General, the Federal Chancellor and the Foreign Minister discussed Austria’s upcoming chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in 2017. The Secretary-General looked forward to continuing to strengthen the partnership between the United Nations and the OSCE during Austria’s stewardship of the organization. 

The Secretary-General and his interlocutors also touched upon the issue of youth employment in view of the Secretary-General’s appointment of Mr. Werner Faymann of Austria as his Special Envoy on Youth Employment.
