Readout of the Secretary-General's meeting with H.E. Mr. Michel Temer, President of the Federative Republic of Brazil

The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Michel Temer, President of the Federative Republic of Brazil. The Secretary-General expressed his best wishes to President Temer for his recently initiated tenure. He congratulated Brazil on the successful conduct of the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. 

The Secretary-General thanked Brazil for its long-standing support for UN peacekeeping, particularly MINUSTAH, and for its leadership as Chair of the Peacebuilding Commission’s Guinea-Bissau Configuration. The Secretary-General and President Temer exchanged views about Climate Change and the situation in Syria.
