Tara Khan has worked for the United Nations for three years. She began as an intern for six months at UNHQ in NY for the Protocol and Liaison Service in the Department for General Assembly and Conference Management. She was subsequently hired for the UN General Assembly High-Level Week in 2021. Tara then transitioned to the Office of the President of the General Assembly. She has had the privilege of serving under the 76th President of the General Assembly, His Excellency Abdulla Shahid, and the 77th President of the General Assembly, His Excellency Csaba Kőrösi.

Tara is an active member of the UN Staff Union where she has a role of Racial Justice Focal Point. Of countless exceptional moments and encounters while working at the UN, Tara’s most memorable was the first time she entered the General Assembly Hall and witnessed decision-making processes and agreements which have the power to reach every corner of our world. Tara aspires to attend law school in the coming years to ultimately work in the legislation of international law for the prevention of violence against women and girls.
