Eva Schafer is Deputy Team Leader of the Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs team in the Office of the President of the General Assembly. 

She previously served as Adviser on Gender Equality and Public Health in the Office of the President of the General Assembly during the 72nd and 73rd sessions. In this capacity, she led the preparation of the General Assembly high-level events on Women in Power, Non-Communicable Diseases and ending Tuberculosis. 

Prior to joining the Office, she worked as Third (Human Rights) and Fifth (Budget) Committee Delegate at the Permanent Mission of Hungary to the United Nations (2011-16). Among her diplomatic assignments, she served as Vice-Chair of the Conference of State Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and co-led negotiations on behalf of EU Member States in the Fifth Committee during Hungary’s EU Presidency. During this period, she also served in the team of the Co-Chair of the Open Working Group (OWG) on Sustainable Development Goals with a responsibility to support the Co-Chair’s work on developing the SDGs on Education, Health, Gender Equality and Inequalities. 

A career diplomat, Eva worked at the United Nations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary. 

She graduated with a Master’s degree in International Relations from Corvinus University of Budapest
