Amr Danyal Shamun has been working as a Foreign Service Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, since 2019. He mainly worked at the India Division that is responsible for monitoring and maintaining bilateral relations and cooperation between the Maldives India. He was principally tasked with monitoring the implementation of 22 community empowerment projects covering sectors such as education, healthcare, disability inclusiveness, and infrastructure development in over 110 islands across the Maldives, as well as the defense cooperation between the Maldives and India. He also compiled the official report of the 1st and 3rd European Union-Maldives Senior Officials Meetings in 2020 and 2022 and assisted the Permanent Mission of the Maldives in Geneva during the Human Rights Council session in June 2021.
Amr completed completed his MA in International Relations at the University of Bath, UK in 2022 and his final MA dissertation explored the extent to which foreign aid has contributed to the socioeconomic development of the Maldives and how perceptions on foreign aid have changed over time.
