OFFICIAL VISIT
The President of the General Assembly, Csaba Kőrösi, is wrapping up his official engagements at the Seventh Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health, co-hosted by the Government of Hungary and the World Health Organization.
He had a number of bilaterals in the past 24-hours, including with Dr. Hans Kluge, the WHO Regional Director for Europe.
They discussed preparations for the upcoming high-level events in the General Assembly related to pandemic prevention, preparedness and response; universal health coverage; and the fight against tuberculosis.
The President will be back in the office on Monday.
KISWAHILI LANGUAGE
Turning back here at the UN Headquarters, where there is a commemoration of Kiswahili Language Day.
President Kőrösi spoke about the importance of Kiswahili being used online, to help turbocharge progress on the Sustainable Development Goals.
And he said that he hoped today’s event will lead to some concrete next steps to further Kiswahili’s reach on sustainable issues.
The remarks were delivered by the Chef de Cabinet, Mr. László Szőke.
The event was organized by the Permanent Mission of Tanzania, UNESCO, as well as Member States of the Southern African Development Community and the East African Community.

Looking to next week.
As you know the High-level Political Forum starts on Monday, and ECOSOC President Lachazera Stoeva is briefing shortly.
President Kőrösi will be actively engaged in the HLPF, following discussions and also sometimes participating.
In addition on Wednesday, 12 July, he will address the launch of the State of Food Security and Nutrition report. That is the annual flagship report jointly prepared by FAO, IFAD, UNICEF, WFP and WHO.
Wednesday is also the first time that we mark the International Day of Combatting Sand and Dust Storms, which the General Assembly created just a few weeks ago.
On Thursday, 13 July, President Kőrösi will speak about gender financial architecture at a side event of HLPF. So women as users, providers and regulators of financial services, and how this corresponds with sustainability.
On Friday, 14 July, President Kőrösi will speak at the Nikkei SDG Festival in New York.
On Saturday, 15 July, the President will participate in Science Day, a special event related to HLPF.
On Sunday, 16 July, President Kőrösi will speak at a special event on the 4th Global Conference on Strengthening Synergies Between the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
