Background: Access to health services saves lives and healthier populations prevent pandemics. The 2030 Development Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) including SDG3 – with Universal Health Coverage (UHC) at its core – charts worldwide progress towards our shared global mission of Health for All. Undoubtedly, the pandemic has demonstrated the centrality of health in achieving sustainable development and the critical importance of the achievement of all SDGs for the attainment of healthy lives and the well-being of all. Hence in line with relevant UNGA resolutions, the President of the UNGA will convene interactive multistakeholder hearings, as part of the preparatory process for the high-level meetings on universal health coverage, the fight against tuberculosis and pandemic prevention, preparedness and response to take place in September 2023.
The events are held in line with General Assembly resolutions 75/315, 77/274 and 77/275 on the scope, modalities, format and organization of the high-level meetings on universal health coverage, the fight against tuberculosis and pandemic prevention, preparedness and response, respectively.
