SETON HALL

This afternoon, President Csaba Kőrösi will give a public lecture at Seton Hall University in New Jersey.

He will speak about the work of the General Assembly, his motto and priorities for the resumed 77th session. He will also take questions.

As part of the visit, the President will also meet with some students in a select group to discuss the state of world affairs.

 

OPEN LETTER FROM YOUTH

The President has been touting the importance of including young people in the work of the General Assembly.

He has met on several occasional with young people here in New York, and also on his visits.

You will recall that on Tuesday, at the International Day of Education event, the President was handed an open letter, delivered by Youth Representative Kenisha Arora, addressed to world leaders.

The President today delivered a copy of that letter to all Member States, and asked them to share it with their capitals.

In his letter, the President said it was crucial that we deliver on the commitments made during the Transforming Education Summit.

 

BILATERAL

Turning to bilaterals…

The President will meet today with Ambassador Zhang Jun, the Permanent Representative of China. The President will begin his visit to India and China over the weekend. You can expect more information on the Chinese portion of that trip, tomorrow.

The President will also meet with the Director-General of International Development Law Organization, Ms. Jan Beagle, and Permanent Observer of IDLO to the UN, Mr. Henk-Jan Brinkman. The topics of discussion will be the mandated negotiation processes, including the SDG Summit and the Summit of the Future.

 

HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE

Tomorrow, the President will participate in the annual UN ceremony in observance of the International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust. That’s at 11AM.

 

QUESTIONS

The Spokesperson was asked if Lebanon had regained its voting rights. The Spokesperson didn’t know if the payment had been made. Payment of dues is an announcement to be made by the Office of the SG’s Spokesperson.

The Spokesperson was asked if the President planned to visit the Middle East and Ukraine. The Spokesperson said that she had no trips to those regions to announce.
