UN President of General Assembly to make official visit to India, 29-31 January 2023

25 January 2023 – The President of the United Nations General Assembly, Csaba Kőrösi will make an official visit to India from 29 to 31 January 2023. The trip will include conversations with Government officials, leading national scientists and academics, and include field visits related to sustainable water use.
In New Delhi, he will meet with External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, with discussions expected to continue on topics raised during their last meeting in December, among them the ongoing priorities of the General Assembly and India’s engagement with the UN body.
These priorities are also expected to be on the agenda when President Kőrösi visits India’s G20 Secretariat, and meets with a delegation led by Mr. Amitabh Kant, the G20 Sherpa.
President Kőrösi’s official visit, which is conducted at the invitation of the Indian Government, coincides with the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination and Martyrs’ Day, which the President will mark by laying a wreath at Raj Ghat.
Among his other public appearances in New Delhi, President Kőrösi will give a public address at the Indian Council of World Affairs under the theme of his priorities for the current General Assembly session, which is “Solutions through Solidarity, Sustainability and Science.”
A main focus of the visit is on making connections between the General Assembly and science, particularly on the issue of water, ahead of the UN Water Conference in March.
The President will discuss India’s water conservation projects with senior officials and experts at the National Institute for Transformation India, otherwise known as NITI Aayog, a commission whose primary responsibility is to implement and coordinate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) efforts in India.
The President is scheduled to participate in field visits in Bengaluru, where he will visit a water project site. While in the city, the President will also interact with national scientists and academics at the Indian Institute of Science.
The President will also meet with Mr. Shombi Sharp, the UN Resident Coordinator in India.
The President will be joined by his Chef de Cabinet Mr. László Szőke, the Chief Scientific Advisor Mr. Johannes Cullmann, and two senior Office colleagues.
Costs of the visit are covered by the Government and the OPGA Trust Fund. All efforts are made to keep the President’s trips as cost-, time- and environmentally-efficient as possible.

25 जनवरी 2023 – संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा के अध्यक्ष कसाबा कोरोसी, 29 से 31 जनवरी 2023 तक भारत की आधिकारिक यात्रा करेंगे। इस यात्रा में सरकारी अधिकारियों, प्रमुख राष्ट्रीय वैज्ञानिकों और शिक्षाविदों के साथ बातचीत शामिल होगी, और अनेक स्थानीय दौरे शामिल होंगे।
महासभा अध्यक्ष, राजधानी नई दिल्ली में विदेश मंत्री डॉक्टर एस. जयशंकर के साथ मुलाक़ात करेंगे, जिसमें दिसंबर में उनकी पिछली बैठक के दौरान उठाए गए विषयों पर चर्चा जारी रहने की उम्मीद है. उनमें महासभा की चल रही प्राथमिकताएँ और संयुक्त राष्ट्र संगठन के साथ भारत की साझेदारी शामिल है।
महासभा अध्यक्ष कोरोसी, भारत के जी20 सचिवालय का दौरा करेंगे और जी20 शेरपा श्री अमिताभ कांत के नेतृत्व में एक प्रतिनिधिमंडल से भेंट करेंगे, जिसके एजेंडे में, इन प्राथमिकताओं के शामिल होने की उम्मीद है।
महासभा अध्यक्ष कोरोसी की यह आधिकारिक यात्रा, भारत सरकार के निमंत्रण पर हो रही है जो महात्मा गांधी की हत्या की वर्षगांठ और शहीद दिवस के साथ मेल खाती है. अध्यक्ष कोरोसी इस अवसर पर राजघाट में पुष्पांजलि अर्पित करेंगे।
महासभा अध्यक्ष कोरोसी, नई दिल्ली में अपनी अन्य सार्वजनिक उपस्थितियों के बीच, वर्तमान महासभा सत्र के लिए अपनी प्राथमिकताओं के विषय पर, विश्व मामलों की भारतीय परिषद में एक सार्वजनिक भाषण देंगे, जिसका विषय है “एकजुटता, स्थिरता और विज्ञान के माध्यम से समाधान”।
मार्च में संयुक्त राष्ट्र जल सम्मेलन से पहले इस यात्रा का मुख्य फ़ोकस, महासभा और विज्ञान के बीच संबंध बनाने पर है, विशेष रूप से पानी के मुद्दे पर।
महासभा अध्यक्ष नेशनल इंस्टीट्यूट फॉर ट्रांसफॉर्मेशन इंडिया के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों और विशेषज्ञों के साथ, भारत की जल संरक्षण परियोजनाओं पर चर्चा करेंगे. इसे नीति आयोग के नाम से भी जाना जाता है. नीति आयोग की प्राथमिक ज़िम्मेदारी, भारत में सतत विकास लक्ष्यों (एसडीजी) के प्रयासों को लागू करना और समन्वय करना है।
महासभा अध्यक्ष बेंगलुरू में भी कुछ कार्यक्रमों में शिरकत करेंगे, जहाँ उनके एक जल परियोजना स्थल का दौरा करने की उम्मीद है। शहर में रहते हुए, वो भारतीय विज्ञान संस्थान में राष्ट्रीय वैज्ञानिकों और शिक्षाविदों के साथ भी बातचीत करेंगे।
महासभा अध्यक्ष कोरोसी, भारत में संयुक्त राष्ट्र के रैज़िडेंट कोऑर्डिनेटर श्री शॉम्बी शार्प से भी मुलाक़ात करेंगे।
महासभा अध्यक्ष के साथ उनके कैबिनेट प्रमुख श्री लास्ज़्लो स्ज़ोके, मुख्य वैज्ञानिक सलाहकार श्री जोहान्स कल्मन और कार्यालय के दो वरिष्ठ सहयोगी शामिल होंगे।
उनकी इस यात्रा का ख़र्च भारत सरकार और ओपीजीए ट्रस्ट फंड वहन कर रहे हैं। महासभा अध्यक्ष की यात्राओं को यथासंभव लागत, समय और पर्यावरण-कुशल रखने के लिए सभी प्रयास किए जाते हैं।
