NOON BRIEFING HIGHLIGHTS

TEDROS
President Csaba Kőrösi this hour spoke with Dr. Tedros, of the World Health Organization.
During the virtual call, they discussed the three high-level health-focused meetings that will take place next year, on the topics of universal health coverage; tuberculosis; and pandemic prevention, preparedness and response.
GATES
On these topics, the President also met today with Mark Suzman, the CEO of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
They discussed how the Gates Foundation can help support the General Assembly’s work. Including also on the SDG Summit next September.
CHINESE MISSION
Ahead of these meeting,
President Kőrösi this morning visited the Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China, where he signed a condolence book for the late Jiang Zemin.
The General Assembly had on the first of December observed a moment of silence to honor the former President.
BILATERALS
Turning to today’s bilaterals, President Kőrösi will today meet with Mr. Alvaro Delgado, who is the Secretary of the President of Uruguay.
In a separate meeting, President Kőrösi will be meeting with Ambassador Leonor Zalabata Torres, the Permanent Representative of Colombia.
DIWALI
This afternoon, the President will participate in an event marking Diwali, organized by the Diwali Foundation USA, along with UN Member States.
This is an award ceremony.
The event will be webcast on UN WebTV.
TOMORROW
Tomorrow… the General Assembly will hold a plenary meeting on humanitarian and disaster relief, at 10AM.
President Kőrösi will have remarks.
QUESTIONS
The Spokesperson was asked whether the IGN process would start in January. The Spokesperson said she expected to have something to announce tomorrow.
