Oxford’s SDG Lab Empowers Students for Sustainable Impact

The Oxford SDG Impact Lab was founded in 2021 to empower University of Oxford students to lead transformative research projects aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Lab partners with both global industry leaders and local community organisations, providing students with unique opportunities to address pressing challenges in areas like sustainable tourism, climate action, health, and social inclusion.

UNAI member institution, the Yenepoya University Centre for Ethics, celebrated the International Day of Peace (21 September) with a programme of events aiming to foster and shape the understanding of peace within the community and beyond. An interactive event featuring impactful speakers, the programme fostered discussion and reflection amongst participants.

Sending a Message to COP 29: DMU Organizes Second Big River Clean-up

Joining with its local authority, Leicester City Council, and waterways charity the Canal and River Trust, UNAI member and SDG Hub 16 De Montfort University is organizing its second annual river clean-up on Wednesday, 13 November, as world leaders gather to discuss climate action at COP 29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. DMU encourages universities around the world to get involved in the project and take action on the same day.

INSEAD's Renewed MBA Curriculum for Social and Environmental Impact

In recent years, UNAI member institution INSEAD has progressively incorporated sustainability topics into its MBA core courses, and this process is now complete. By embedding sustainability into all 14 core courses and introducing a mandatory 3-day real-life business simulation capstone, the INSEAD MBA offers a high-impact environment to facilitate discussions and cultivate responsible leaders, the refreshed curriculum first rolled out in January 2024.

Prioritising local knowledge and community engagement in its innovative solutions, the Habitable Air Project, led by Dr Kerry Ryan Chance at UNAI SDG hub the University of Bergen (UiB) in Norway, has emerged as a leading voice in addressing the interconnected challenges of air pollution and climate change. Their recent participation at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) showcased their groundbreaking work and its crucial role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Texila American University (TAU) has emerged as a leading force in promoting community welfare in Guyana through its proactive blood donation drives. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, TAU has been dedicated to addressing the pressing need for blood in the region, often heightened by medical emergencies and ongoing health conditions. One of the university’s most recent and impactful drives took place on June 21, 2024, in collaboration with the National Blood Transfusion Services (NBTS).

On 16 May 2024, Koya University launched the Green University initiative, falling under the 7th pillar of its Strategic Plan for five years (2023-2027). Alongside many higher education institutions around the globe adopting technologies, practices, and tools aimed at protecting the environment, Koya University aims to reengineer education in a manner that is consistent with the growing green scientific and economic development that the world is experiencing today.

Aveiro is Ours

The Aveiro é Nosso project was restructured and given new life in 2014 by the Students Union of the University of Aveiro, with the goal of bringing the academic community closer to the Region of Aveiro and its residents. Evolving in action and goals for the next ten years, today the University of Aveiro continues to create and engage in volunteering projects and sustainability initiatives which will help to unite Aveiro communities and contribute to a greater good.

The Millennium Campus Network (MCN) and the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) are proud to present the Millennium Fellowship Class of 2024, an ambitious program to help make the Sustainable Development Goals and UNAI principles a reality.  Millennium Fellows were selected from a record-breaking 52,581 applicants to join the Class of 2024, hailing from 6,000+ universities worldwide.  The Class of 2024 consists of 4,000+ driven undergraduates at 280+ universities in 48 nations.  

Catalysing Challenge-led Research to Support the SDGs: A Practical Framework from Monash University

A challenge facing many universities and researchers is how to catalyse large-scale, multi-partner challenge-led, interdisciplinary research to address the SDGs.    In response to this challenge, Monash University has released a practical framework based on 15 years of experience which provides new guidance and strategies, drawing from an 18 month study of challenge-led, large scale research. The Framework seeks to strengthen systems, cultures and capabilities at a range of levels.
