2009 ANNUAL MINISTERIAL REVIEW JULY SESSION

The 2009 Review comprised of National voluntary presentations and a thematic discussion on "Implementing the internationally agreed goals and commitments in regard to global public health.

Bolivia, China, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Japan, Mali, Sri Lanka and Sudan presented their National Voluntary Presentations (NVPs). Developing countries focused on their lessons learned in formulating and implementing their national development strategies and developed countries reported on their progress in assisting developing countries, with a specific focus on global public health. NVP preparations included multistakeholder workshops and the preparations of national reports.

During panel discussions and informal roundtables participants had the opportunity to engage with leading experts in discussions on:

  • the progress made to date in the area of global public health;
  • how to overcome remaining challenges, and
  • how to best scale up policies and approaches which work.

A Special Event on “Africa and the Least Developed Countries: Partnerships and Health” was organized around the theme of the 2009 AMR on 8 July 2009.
