2009 REGIONAL MINISTERIAL MEETING ON “FINANCING STRATEGIES FOR HEALTH CARE”
A regional ministerial meeting on the theme "Financing Strategies for Health Care" was held on 16-18 March 2009 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The meeting was hosted by the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and organized in cooperation with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP). The meeting was part of the preparatory process for the 2009 Annual Ministerial Review (AMR).
The topics addressed by expert panelists included domestic and external financing for health care, as well as challenges for health systems in countries in crisis situations. A special session was also held to highlight good practices and new initiatives on financing health care.
