24 October 2018 - The University for Peace (Costa Rica), a member institution of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), jointly with the Permanent Mission of Costa Rica to the United Nations, is hosting on 26 October 2018 at United Nations Headquarters in New York, the Interactive Dialogue on the University for Peace and the Role of Education and Dialogue in Achieving Sustainable Peace, organized in conjunction with the presentation of the Triannual Report of the United Nations Secretary-General on the University for Peace to the United Nations General Assembly. 

The event will be an occasion for participants from the academic world, civil society, governments and UN officials to get a briefing on the University for Peace and its activities and programmes at its main campus in Costa Rica and in various other locations around the world; and exchange views about the ways to encourage and mobilize different actors to work together on the promotion of education for peace, with a special emphasis on dialogue and conflict resolution, as one of the most important tool to achieve sustainable peace.

This panel can also serve as a platform for mobilizing further support for education for peace- building by sharing experiences and lessons learned by high-level actors in the international arena, including Members of the Council of the University for Peace, government officials, Member States of the United Nations; and members of civil society, in order to promote dialogue on education for peace building and construction of sustainable peace and how education plays a fundamental role in that construction.
