The world's largest gathering of international dignitaries is held in September each year at United Nations Headquarters in New York City! In this series we introduce some of the people behind the scenes of the UN General Assembly who make what has been called the World Cup of Diplomacy happen! Over the course of the series we'll get a firsthand glimpse into various departments within the UN and how they prepare for some of the busiest weeks of the year at the United Nations.

The News and Media Division within the Department of Public Information creates and broadcasts multimedia products on the work of the United Nations at Headquarters and around the world. The News Section in particular provides a one-stop shop for in-depth and multilingual daily news coverage of events, issues and developments involving the United Nations, with the goal of increasing understanding of the work of the UN system. Coverage extends across platforms in the UN's six official languages as well as in Kiswahili and Portuguese, and includes a wide range of topics.

In this video we chat with Flora NDucha, Chief of UN News in Kiswahili. She discusses how important it is to be able to provide a key source of information regarding the work of the UN to Kiswahili speakers in Africa, and how she landed her dream job here at the UN!
