SECOND PALESTINE SUBCOMMITTEE
SPLITS INTO THREE WORKING GROUPS
The second meeting of Subcommittee II of the Ad Hoc Committee on Palestine was convened by the Chairman, Mr. A. Gonzalez-Fernandez, at 3:15 this afternoon.
The Subcommittee listed the subjects to be taken up under 3 main categories: (a) Displaced Persons, (b) Legal Questions, and (c) The Three proposals on the future government of Palestine as a unitary state.
The three proposals under "C" would include the resolution of Iraq and Saudi Arabia to the General Assembly and that of Syria to the Ad Hoc Committee on the Palestinian Question.
In order to facilitate the work of the Subcommittee, it was decided to divide the nine members of Subcommittee II into 3 working groups, each of which would work on one of the main categories listed above.
The members of working group "A", which will deal with displaced Jewish persons includes:
Working group "B", which will look into the legality of the mandate, the request for ruling by the International Court of Justice and the legal limitations of the United Nations in regard to implementation, includes:
Working group "C", which will draw up a detailed plan for the future government of Palestine in accordance with the 3 proposals mentioned above, includes:
On Friday, Subcommittee II will meet privately in working groups in both the morning and afternoon.
