Communication from Delegate of United Kingdom Referring to Inquiry Concerning a Report on Alleged Activities of Lebanese Officers.

The following communication has been received on 5 February 1948 from Mr. Fletcher-Cooke of the United Kingdom Delegation.


4 February 1948

Dear Dr. Bunche,

May I refer you to your letter of 3rd February regarding the report that on or about 1st February Haganah patrols had “spotted Lebanese officers surveying the ground for gun and mortar positions in Upper Galilee, etc.

We have no information here about this alleged incident but I have sent a telegram on the point to Jerusalem and will communicate with you again as soon as I get a reply.
