On 29 November 2017, The United Nations General Assembly will observe the annual International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, pursuant to General Assembly resolution 32/40 B of 2 December 1977. The occasion marks the adoption by the General Assembly of resolution 181 (II) on 29 November 1947 partitioning the mandate of Palestine into two States.

Events to mark Solidarity day will be held at United Nations Headquarters in New York as well as at United Nations offices in Geneva, Vienna, and Nairobi. During the events, representatives of Member States, inter-governmental organizations and civil society are expected to speak on the question of Palestine. The observance will also include a special exhibit celebrating the lives and careers of Palestinians who have contributed to humanity in different walks of life, in the face of extraordinary challenges. The UN General Assembly will also hold its annual debate on the question of Palestine on this day.

Cultural event and reception 

Inauguration of an exhibit entitled “The Palestinian People: Everlasting Roots, Infinite Horizons”, showcasing photos of prominent Palestinian individuals and groups in the domain of science and technology, economic and social development, literature, arts and sports.  There will also be a feature performance by Palestinian Arab Idol Star, Ameer Dandan.
