Readout of the Secretary-General's meeting with H.E. Mr. Shin Kak-soo, Acting Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Korea (ROK), in the margins of the 65th General Assembly

They discussed various global agendas including the Millennium Development Goals, G-20, HIV/AIDS and peacekeeping operations. As regards to the outcome of the MDGs Summit, the Secretary-General expressed hopes that agreements reached during the Summit will be duly reflected in the “Development” agenda of the upcoming G-20 Summit scheduled for November in Seoul. The Secretary-General also expressed his appreciation for the active contributions by the Government of the Republic of Korea in the work of the UN, including its increasing participation in UN Peacekeeping Operations and development assistance.

They also discussed issues related to the Korean Peninsula.
