The Secretary-General met today, 25 September 2010, with H.E. Dr. Guido Westerwelle, Foreign Minister of Germany.

The Secretary-General expressed appreciation for Germany's consistent support to the United Nations, recognizing particularly its contributions for climate change, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Haiti, Sudan, and Somalia. The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister also discussed UN reform. The Secretary-General further underscored the importance of Germany's support for peacekeeping as well as preventive diplomacy.
