The Secretary-General met today with the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), H.E. Mr. Joseph Kabila. They discussed the situation in the DRC.

The Secretary-General reaffirmed the support of the United Nations to peace and development in the DRC. He encouraged the Government and the Congolese political actors to remain firmly committed to the effective and speedy implementation of the Political agreement of 31 December 2016.  He extended the support of the UN to the Government efforts for the organisation of timely, credible and transparent elections.

The Secretary-General expressed the UN’s continued commitment to accompany the Congolese people on its path to peace, stability and development.

Le Secrétaire général s'est entretenu aujourd'hui avec S.E.M. Joseph Kabila, Président de la République démocratique du Congo (RDC). Ils ont discuté la situation en RDC.

Le Secrétaire-général a réaffirmé le soutien des Nations unies pour la paix et le développement en RDC. Il a encouragé le Gouvernement et les acteurs politiques congolais à s’engager fermement dans la mise en œuvre effective et à temps de l’accord politique du 31 décembre 2016. Il a proposé le soutien des Nations unies aux efforts du Gouvernement pour l’organisation dans un délai raisonnable d’élections crédibles et transparentes.

Le Secrétaire général a réitéré l’engagement soutenu des Nations unies d’accompagner le peuple Congolais sur la voie de la paix, de la stabilité et du développement.
