Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Samura M.W. Kamara, Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Sierra Leone

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Samura M.W. Kamara, Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Sierra Leone.

The Secretary-General offered his condolences for the loss of lives in Freetown following the devastating mudslides and flooding from heavy rains in August. He stressed the importance of Sierra Leone’s commitment to the 2030 agenda and to holding peaceful and credible elections on 7 March 2018. The Secretary-General expressed gratitude for Sierra Leone’s contribution of uniformed personnel in support of UN peacekeeping and reaffirmed the support of the United Nations to peace and development in the country.
