Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Juan Manuel Santos Calderón, President of Colombia

The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Juan Manuel Santos Calderón, President of Colombia, on the margins of the 71st General Assembly. The Secretary-General congratulated President Santos Calderón for his vision and leadership in reaching an historic peace agreement with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia- Peoples’ Army (FARC-EP) that will end more than five decades of conflict and bring a more prosperous future for the country.  He pledged the unwavering support of the United Nations to the implementation of the agreements. 

The Secretary-General also stressed the importance of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
