Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Agapito Mba Mokuy, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Agapito Mba Mokuy, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea. 

The Secretary-General encouraged the Foreign Minister to further promote democratic reforms in the country, and to continue cooperation with the UN Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Central Africa. 

He also welcomed the outcome of the Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) held in Malabo on 30 July 2016, in particular the setting up of a fund to support reconstruction efforts in the Central African Republic (CAR). 

The Secretary-General further encouraged the Foreign Minister to continue mobilizing the Central African sub-region, as Head of CEMAC, to support CAR's return to lasting stability.
