The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Stefan Löfven, Prime Minister of Sweden.
The Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for Sweden’s strong support and contribution to the United Nations, including on peacekeeping and human rights. He commended Sweden for its commitment to gender equality and children’s rights, as well as for its leadership in addressing climate change.
The Secretary-General and the Prime Minister discussed the outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease and the support provided by Sweden to fight the disease.
They also exchanged views on the situation in Syria and in Iraq, as well as the crisis in Ukraine.
The Secretary-General and the Prime Minister agreed on the importance of making the post–2015 development agenda a truly universal and transformative endeavour.
