Kwibuka logo

Kwibuka means "remember" in Kinyarwanda, Rwanda's language. It describes the annual commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. The people of Rwanda are working together for a brighter future. Come together with them to learn about, and commemorate, the Genocide against the Tutsi.

DUHOZANYE, which means "console each other," was started by 330 widows of genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi in 1994 in the former Shyanda commune in Southern Province. The widows decided to combine their efforts to overcome the consequences of genocide and develop themselves to overcome extreme poverty.

The Aegis Trust works towards the prediction, prevention and ultimate elimination of genocide. We do this primarily through research, education and the dissemination of information and advice.
