The Goal of the Month for December is SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, which aims to promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
The world is still a long way from achieving that goal. Hundreds of millions of people are living in fragile and conflict-affected States. By the end of 2020, about 1 per cent of the global population – 82.4 million people – had been forcibly displaced because of persecution, conflict or violence. However, in some areas progress is being made.
