Welcome to the United Nations. It's your world.

Remember the Fallen

Haiti, 30 March 2011

Captain Sultan Al Shraah

Captain Sultan Al Shraah, a national of Jordan, worked for the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), where he served as part of the UN police contingent. He joined the mission in 2010.

Sadly, he died while on patrol in Port-au-Prince on 30 March.

At a wreath-laying ceremony on 6 April in honour of the large number of staff that had fallen in recent days, the Secretary-General said, "The roster of the fallen, in recent days, has been shocking and profoundly sad. We stand in solidarity with their friends and families, united in sorrow, but united also in our mission."

Captain Sultan Al Shraah is survived by his wife and four children.
