Kristina Bonnez

Kristina Bonnez, a national of Belgium, was a Senior Conduct Discipline Officer for the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO).

She died on 4 April 2011 aboard a UN plane which had been on a flight from the north-eastern city of Kisangani. The plane crashed as it tried to land amid heavy rain and high winds, at N’Djili airport in Kinshasa (DRC).

Kristina first started working for the United Nations in 2006 as a Senior European Union Police Advisor to the African Union/United Nations Hybrid operation in Darfur. She later became an Implementation Officer for the police component of the Mission, where she was involved in the development of local police.

A lawyer by training, Kristina graduated in 1980 from the University of Brussels. She later studied Criminology at the University of Brussels, and Human Resources Management at the University of Leuven in Belgium.
