In March 2010, the Commission on the Status of Women will undertake a fifteen-year review of the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the outcomes of the twenty-third special session of the General Assembly. Emphasis will be placed on the sharing of experiences and good practices, with a view to overcoming remaining obstacles and new challenges, including those related to the Millennium Development Goals. Member States, representatives of non-governmental organizations and of UN entities will participate in the session. A series of parallel events will provide additional opportunities for information exchange and networking.
Ongoing national and regional review processes are feeding into the global review process.
The General Assembly is expected to mark the 15th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action in a commemorative meeting during CSW.

The 54th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW54) will undertake a fifteen-year review of the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. This panel discussion at CSW54 will take forward the evidence of the global WHO report "Women and health: today's evidence tomorrow's agenda" with a view to helping shape a shared agenda for women's health. In particular, it will focus on the need to strengthen health systems so that they are better geared to meet women's needs from birth to older age - in terms of access, coverage and responsiveness. You will hear about options forward, emerging from the evidence, and we look forward to your insights and inputs.

celebrating 8 March as International Women's Day. Two years later, in
December 1977, the General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming a United
Nations Day for Women's Rights and International Peace to be observed on any
day of the year by Member States, in accordance with their historical and national
traditions.
The theme for 2010 is “Equal rights, equal opportunities: Progress for all”.
