AD HOC COMMITTEE ON THE PALESTINIAN QUESTION

SUB-COMMITTEE I

Reconvening in public this event at 8:15 p.m., the Sub-Committee first discussed an adopted in a modified form an amendment submitted by the Jewish Agency to the Report of the Working Group on Implementation. This amendment is to the effect that the Mandatory Power shall use its best endeavours to assure that an area situated in the territory of the Jewish State including a seaport and hinterland adequate to provide facilities for a substantial immigration shall be evacuated at the earliest possible date and in any event not later than 1 February 1948.

The Sub-Committee also discussed the text of the draft Preamble for the Resolution on Palestine which the General Assembly will be called upon to pass.  The Sub-Committee will give final approval to the text at the next meeting which shall be tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
