CABLEGRAM DATED 9 JUNE 1948 FROM THE UNITED NATIONS

MEDIATOR TO THE SECRETARY-GENERAL

Following is text of second message sent today, Wednesday, 9 June, by United Nations Mediator to all interested Governments:

"1. I have the honour to communicate to you certain points which occur to me as especially important with regard to the application of the truce in Palestine which has been accepted by all parties today, Wednesday, 9 June 1948.l

"2. It is my earnest hope that every commander in the field on both sides will be notified of the date and hour of the cease-fire and truce in ample time to make all necessary preparations and avoid any misunderstandings or incidents.

"3. I also appeal to both sides to take every possible measure, including explanations by wireless, to ensure that their peoples will be fully informed of the effective date and hour of the cease-fire and truce and of its significance to the end that incidents which might endanger the truce may be reduced to a minimum.  Count Bernadotte"
