UNCCP – Special Committee set to resume its meeting – Letter to Israel

UNITED NATIONS CONCILIATION COMMISSION FOR PALESTINE

Letter* dated 2 September 1950 addressed by the Conciliation Commission
to H.E. Mr. Moshe Sharett, Foreign Minister of Israel

Sir,

My colleagues and I have learned with satisfaction that the Special Committee which was set up under the provisions of Article VIII of the Rhodes Armistice Agreement between Israel and Jordan is about to resume its meetings. It is our earnest hope that these meetings may be fruitful.

On this occasion the Palestine Conciliation Commission, having in mind the responsibilities with which it is charged by the General Assembly of the United Nations, believes it appropriate to inform both parties that the Commission, while remaining apart from the work of the Committee, stands ready with an offer of good offices should the parties at any time agree that these might be helpful,

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your obedient Servant,

(S) Ely E. Palmer

Chairman
