CABLEGRAM DATED 1 JANUARY 1949 FROM THE ACTING FOREIGN MINISTER

OF SAUDI-ARABIA TO THE SECRETARY-GENERAL CONCERNING THE

RESOLUTION OF THE PALESTINIAN QUESTION ADOPTED BY THE

SECURITY COUNCIL ON 29 DECEMBER 1948 AT ITS

THREE HUNDRED AND NINETY-SIXTH MEETING

I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your cable conveying the resolution taken by the Security Council at its three hundred and ninety-sixth meeting on December 29th.  The Saudi Arabian Government has taken note of the said resolution but they observe that it was the Jews and not the Arabs who have violated the Truce.  The Saudi Arabian Government together with the States of the Arab League who are willing for peace and working for the stabilization of security and truce in Palestine are ready to co-operate with the Security Council in all that ensures peace and justice and settlement in Palestine.
