UNITED NATIONS CONCILIATION COMMISSION FOR PALESTINE
LETTER DATED 21 MAY 1949 ADDRESSED BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE CONCILIATION COMMISSION
TO THE HEADS OF THE ARAB DELEGATIONS AND THE DELEGATION OF ISRAEL*
Your Excellency,
I have the honour to advise you that the Conciliation Commission, following the signing of the Protocol of 12 May, considers that it must now face another aspect of its work. This consists primarily in the clarification of the different points of view submitted and in their communication to each of the interested parties, with the aim of reconciling such points of view.
In consequence, the Commission has decided that from now on communications, proposals or statements addressed or submitted to it either by the delegation of Israel or by the Arab delegations will be transmitted through it to the interested Arab delegations or to the Israeli delegation, respectively.
The Commission, of course, reserves the right to make these communications in the form it deems most appropriate in each case. Moreover, it wishes to state explicitly that the transmission of a proposal or statement in no way implies that the Commission adopts its substance, either in part or in whole.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
Your obedient servant,
Claude de Boisanger
Chairman, Conciliation
Commission, for Palestine
